Bamboo Rods For Sale

Hello, thank you for visiting my profile page where I am posting some of the many rods, reels and books that I wish to sell. I am trying to reduce my collection to my primary rods that I collect and so my plan is to reduce my collection by at least 50% or sell about 200 rods in the next year or two. That means I'll be selling all my Leonard, Payne, Young, Powell, Granger, Heddon, South Bend, Shakespeare and many more fine bamboo rods from production to custom rod makers. I have many Grangers and even more Heddons including #35, #50, 1000 as well as short 7' Grangers and Phillipsons.

Please note that I usually only go to the post office once a week, so please be patient on your delivery. My P.O. is so busy I have to wait in line 30-45 minutes each time which is why I don't go there more often.

I also have many new and collectible books that I will be selling. The new books will be priced at around 40-50% below retail. I have a few books such as Forgotten Flies and Rare and Unusual books by Smookler that I will be selling and I have a ton of flyfishing guide books, tying books and of course rod history and rodmaking books. I also have hundreds of books on rock climbing, mountaineering and climbing guide books. I also have an autographed magazine that was signed by Sir. Edmund Hillary a few months after his successful summit of Mt. Everest that will be put up for sale as well. Dude... I have a lot of stuff to sell! I also have technical climbing gear, summit packs, crampons, ice axes and rock climbing gear. Some new, some used... I'm getting too old to climb anything interesting... anything I can still climb today, I probably already climbed it... I've rockclimbed all over California and places between Los Angeles to Devils Tower, Wyoming but I haven't gotten off the ground in over 5 years so I might also be selling my personal climbing gear as well as much as I hate to think about that... Growing old sucks...

BFR Collector Gathering
I will be creating a mailing list so that when I post a few new important items, I will notify everyone on the email list. No, you won't get bombarded by me, but I'd shoot for a email sent out about once a month. So if you want to be added to my Bamboo Rod/Fly Fishing Gear For Sale List, shoot me an email and give me your email address and your full name, city, state and zip code. Why the location info? I'm thinking bamboo fly rod collectors need a gathering just like the Rodmakers, Reel, Lure collectors have... I'm in Los Angeles and wondering if we held a BFR gathering in Las Vegas in the winter, would you be interested in attending? Of course I'd rather do it in L.A. but in Vegas, perhaps the Sig. Others will want to go with you and Vegas has plenty of things to do besides talk cane. We could do a block of rooms say at the Tuscany Suites which have huge rooms so we can set up displays in our rooms like how the NFLCC people do it. Anyone else want to help organize this gathering? I'm thinking Mid-December or early January. Feedback please.

Shakespeare New Diana #1233 - 7.5' 2/2 all full length. Agate stripping guide, 6 snakes. Being researched right now, price not determined yet.

Unmarked High Grade Rod 9' 3/1 $200
This rod is a top quality classic rod made by one of the premier makers. Either F.E. Thomas, Thomas & Edwards, Ed Payne, H.L. Leonard or maybe George Varney. I'm pretty sure it's by FE Thomas but I'm not certain. I'll have photos up in a few days. All full length, full intermediates, all NS fittings, Varney type reel seat, Thomas/Payne/Leonard type ferrules... This one has me stumped.

3wt Orvis Deluxe Impregnated 7.5' 2 Piece Two Tips! $650

This rod was built April 12, 1965 and built by George Reid and/or Calvin Skinner. According to the Orvis database, this rod weighs 3.25 ounces 4005x serial
number. This rod comes with two full length tips. This rod is complete with the original bag and labeled tube. This is a light line rod and will probably cast a 3 wt or a 4 wt. I just weighed the rod and it came in at 3.16 oz. 12/64th Ferrule. This will be an awesome trout rod!

This rod is being sold is a 2 piece, 2 tip rod, all full length. This rod looks very much like Wes Jordan's personal trout rod. Great deal!

This rod has seen honest use but should give a lifetime of fishing pleasure. I haven't fished this rod, but this is one of their most
popular tapers. Price is $650 OBO plus $25 s/h/i. 5 day inspection return policy. I will also include one of my bamboo polishing cloths. Local pickup in Los Angeles welcome, otherwise Money Order or Paypal accepted.

There are chapters on how he developed as a fly tyer - from being a hopeless tinkerer who tried every pattern there was to settling on a large handful of favorite patterns that now catch most of his trout.. Throughout, the book is punctuated with fishing stories and observations on days astream as well as days at his vise, all in Gierach's inimitable style.. rambling a little, following this thread and that, always full of wit and deft experience and that special down-home style that has made him America's favorite fly-fishing author. Brand New Book!. I had to open it to confirm if it's limited to 500 copies and yes indeed 500 limited edition.
